Nahant

My professor and thesis advisor, Anne Spirn, lives on Nahant and every year invites the students from her class to her house for a day of photography and dinner. This is the work from that day in April of 2006. I can see why, as a photographer, this is the place she chose to live.

Nahant and Bermuda: parallel lines.
A lonely seat on the edge of Nahant.
The gull and the boats look for the same thing.
Cages waiting for the season's starting.
The office, redefined by the island.
The ocean leaves its traces everywhere.
Dramatic colors meeting on the dock.
The three are like sisters, making a path.
The flow of the ocean in rocks and weeds.
A raging waterfall, framed by the sky.
They stood out starkly against the dark rocks.
Geometries of dramatic color.
More dramatic color, vibrant below.
A field of grays: millions of colors.
Life leaves its colorful mark on the rocks.
Context: the rocks against the town and sky.
Color and not, demolition in both.
The most photographed rock on the island.
