Brief notes on my work
I’m an amateur photographer, mostly of urban landscapes. I use photography as my outlet: I have a degree in Architecture, but I don’t make use of it in my work, so this is where the design training is applied and how the need to create gets satisfied.
I can’t express enough thanks to my mentors, listed on the left. They have inspired and pushed me, and helped me to get better and to discover that photography is a very meaningful pursuit for me. It’s true that any personal achievement is due to standing on the shoulders of giants, and I’ve been blessed by some great ones.
A shameless plug for Macs: Thanks to iPhoto and iWeb, and their seamless way of working together, this effort is incredibly easy - within minutes I can post photos from my recent travels online, on a web site which is easy to build and maintain. Ease of updating is critical for me, as my last web site has become a static portfolio and not a living thing which would inspire repeat viewers.
And as regards cameras, there’s one critical point to make: once you find the right one for your needs, everything becomes easier. You take more photos, which leads to better photos, which makes you a better photographer. I experimented with digital SLR’s, but found their bulk, price, and obtrusiveness very limiting. The Panasonic cameras have been perfect for me - small and relatively inexpensive, with robust controls and a very wide angle lens and sensor.
